Basil of Baker Street by Eve Titus GUEST BLOGGER Isabelle Pugh (age almost 8)

As part of our deep dive into Holmesian pastiches and derivatives, we have Basil of Baker Street, a children's book which was later adapted into the Disney film Basil, the Great Mouse Detective. Without further ado, I will hand you over to Isabelle, the resident children's book expert.

Two mice, Basil and Doctor Dawson, went on an incredible mission to find Mr and Mrs Proudfoot's twin kids. There were three bad guys called the terrible three. Doctor Dawson got attacked by an owl. There was a pub called THE GREYMOUSE INN.

Mice are cute but I've never heard of a mouse detective. And I've never heard of a mouse doctor. Agatha and Angela love sweets and chocolate, so be careful. Going back to the terrible three, luckily they got caught by the police.

I would say I'd give it three and a half stars. Because it could be a bit more exciting and interesting. My Daddy thinks, it's an interesting take on SHERLOCK HOLMES.

If you see the book, maybe you can read it. Enjoy the rest of your day.
