H is for Hawk is a deeply involving book, blending beautifully observed nature writing with a no-holds-barred introspection across a time of personal grief. And a dash of T H White's life.

Helen Macdonald is a writer and naturalist, born in the south of England. They have been at various points an academic at Jesus College, Cambridge. Their father was Alisdair Macdonald, a well-regarded photojournalist, and H is for Hawk follows the period following his death, and Helen's grief surrounding this. 

H is for Hawk comes highly recommended. It is at once poetic in its descriptions of the gentle English countryside, soulful in its portrayal of loss, and hopeful in its message that life goes on. 117/140 ★★★★★

Music seemed a little out of place with this book, so I have instead accompanied it with a soundscape: Birds in the Forest, a respite from the noise of modern life.
